Hello everybody~
I finally got some of the detail parts that I ordered from the LHS today and I ordered the wrong snowplow for my build. I am wondering if all of the DW plows have the same mounting pin location? Or are they different? The closest I can tell is that they are all the same but I don't want to drill out the pilot and have the correct plow not fit, when I finally get it. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, PVRR2647

I checked the plows I had here and three types were exactly the same and the other two types were not. It does depend on the plow used. I had a 155,255 and 303 which had the same pin mounting measurements. I had a 150 and a 245 that had their own pin locations different from the rest. Unless someone has the plow you need and can give you the location measurements, I think I'd wait until the proper pieces arrive.

Thanks, Mikie I have the 303 and that was the "wrong" one. I bought it on the description of no mu doors and low profile. But no mu doors means that it has no doors, but still has the holes cut out got the mu hoses. I need the 185 to more correctly match the prototype. I will have to order it from Walthers direct. The LHS owner told me that he doesn't really have time for rivet counters, and to just order it from Walthers myself.
Thanks, PVRR2647

I think I'd check out Highballs Graphics. Your plow is in stock and his shipping is fast and as reasonable as can be. There are many other parts on his site for us "rivet" counters, LOL. Although I'm not sure I think wanting an available proper plow for a project is "rivet" counting. Highballs also does awesome decals and is a member of the Diesel Detailer. www.mgdecals.com/homepage.htmMike

Mike~
Funny that you should mention Highball, I ordered a couple of PVRR decal sets from him a week ago and haven't even gotten a e-mail conformation from him. I was planning on sending him an e-mail to make sure that he got my order. It shows up on my credit card statement. Maybe if he hasn't sent out my first order I can get the pl-185 and have them shipped together.

I got into the habit of removing the mounting tabs from the DW plows that I install. I found that the plows are easier to install with them removed, CA'ing them straight to the pilot face. Gel-type CA has a few seconds of working time allowing me to get the correct height and adjust the centering as needed. I've never had one come off when mounting this way. In fact, once I had to remove one because it turned out the plow was not correct, and it took a good amount of force to break the bond.
You can also mount with slow-set CA glue, if you feel you need more time to line things up.

I had been emailing him several times about custom decals, i ended up calling him and told him that i had emailed him several times and we ended up doing the order thru his site and i got the decals ina few days. He is usually very good with getting stuff out quickly. Just give him a call.

Steve~
I think he has the e-mail issue sorted out because I received a reply from him about 5 minutes after I sent the e-mail. I am liking Highball for more than just decals now, and I think that they might become my "go to guys" for my detailing needs. Since my LHS is only interested in selling RTR stuff. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but a lot of us appreciate the detailing and scratch building side of the hobby too.

It was easier to line up the plow with the bottom of the pilot face rather than drilling holes. Ive never had much of a need to reposition or remove a plow once i had it in place anyway.

I did that on a couple of BB dash-9s years ago and they are still going strong too. I think that I will have to just wait until the other order arrives to make up my mind on what I'm going to do.
