I am trying to color match the Athearn NS Grey Ghost paint and am coming up empty. Any suggestions? I am trying to avoid having to custom mix a paint for a touching up added detail parts.

I wouldn't worry too much about matching the gray exactly. Most all the albino catfish had splotchy coloring, especially after a couple weeks of service. Look for really light grays like SP lettering gray. Maybe a new concrete color or a primer paint.

A guy I know that works at GE in Erie says it's just gray primer.

If you look at them right, you can see a shade of green. I know I had one once that looked like they put baby puke green in the paint.
I've seen them even a darker shade too. I guess it depends on how long out of Erie they had been and what time of year. The fresh from Erie appeared plain grey, a short time faded them to a green tint and then too long and they faded.

To me the Athearn Gray looks like the shade used on the 70M's not the C40-9W's. I thought it should be darker. christian

I agree that the Athearn color is probably not right but I am just trying to match the paint for my detail parts I added and have tried a half dozen colors that end up not even being close and was just hoping someone else had found a closer color. I did a RPP a couple of years ago and painted it much darker. Also the overspray in alot more that Athearn does on the RTR

Just a note to all. Found a color that is almost dead on. It is Mr. Color #314 Blue FS 35622. I airbrushed this on and is almost perfect match for the Athearn color. Who would have thought to look at the blue shades for a grey ghost paint color.
