Hi thesd80macbeast,
Yes I got the impression that you were, There is just a lot going on in Covered Wagon's life. Just this past year he was dragged into court by a local train club that he was a member of. For a using the name Indian Rock. which was the name of his previous road he discussed here on the DD. The case was thrown out of court because the judge said the club could not claim copy right on a fictional road that they had no proof of when it was created. So that left a bad taste in his mouth with fellow model railroaders. Yes because a few screwed him, he should not expect that everyone is out to get him. But with that said when other people make a statement like "I think you just need to pick one concept and stick with it." it cuts deep. The Indian Rock is Covered Wagon's first love, but with what happened this past year the name just brings up bad memories for him.
Yes I could not agree with you more on freelancing. Just do what ever makes you happy! I mean if you want pink engines with yellow poke a dots, go for it.

Yes I did state he needs to pick a concept and stick with it, I was partly spurred on by his own comments elsewhere giving someone advice and then citing his own modelling burn out. That came after he had posted other ideas he had had about freelanced RRs. Sorry if my comments come across as blunt but the fact of the matter is if you love something enough you'll stick with it. Case in point my own GDRMCo has been on the go over 15 years now and has been the only fictional RR I've modelled (I've had other ideas but I just can't get away from it). He's already started on a GP7* for the DW and the number chosen doesn't fit with the roster posted, maybe he can post the new and revised roster? In terms of what has happened in his personal life being taken to court over the IR should have made him laugh his ass off at those responsible, I know I would have and I did when I first read about what those people were trying to do because I knew straight away the judge would send them packing. As far as the car crash, s**t happens and you've just got to get on with life. I've been to the near suicidal point with depression and in all honesty worrying about things is useless unless it's a true life or death situation, say what you want but you don't even need a thick skin but a different view on the world. *Clicky
