Are you building this for any certain real railroad? GP18's, while they always came with the later wire grills, some of them were built from F unit trade-ins and thus came with 4 36" fans in front and back like the GP7/9's. GP18's were produced in a period that had very interesting mixes of older and newer style geep phases. Fuel tank sizes and sill styles especially. The GP18 is the best of the early round cab EMD's I think. So many build options to choose from. Although not my idea of the best approach to a GP18. You will gain ideas & skills none the less. Good job so far.

Her is one I've done quite a few years ago, actually a bash of the only GP18 used in Canada. The Athearn GP-9 was quite close to the excepting for the fans so only minor modifications were needed. Cheers Willis
