I've been doing some searching on the internet regarding the RSD5 rebuilds that the FCP performed. I have found many good pictures and have some footage on the Pentrex videos "Those Incredible Alcos - Vol 3" and "Mexico's Pacifico Railroad".
My guess is that I can start with an Atlas RSD4/5 HO locomotive. From what I can tell, it looks like I will reuse the cab from it and the rest of the long hood would need to be scratchbuilt while the nose on the API could be derived from a GE U-boat or a Century C424/C425 if building the BX version.
I tried to find some drawing or plans on either the API620 or BX620. Does anyone have a link to where I might find some.
I wonder if any of these locomotives survive today?

Hi Edwin.I'e been throwing the idea around myself lately with those 2 engines.I also have the alco videos;try a Google search for pictures as I haven't seen any dimension data. You seem to have the right parts lined up for the frame and cabs. My plan was to cut and cement 2 Atlas rs36 hoods together;that way you won't have to scratchbuild them and all you will need is to make the flat rear hod with the large fan, probably like the PA used.Since there are 2 variations, one has the dynamic brakes like the century and I believe the other has the one from the roadswitcher version. Either way,you could splice in the parts from Atlas units. Keep me posted,
Anthony
