I see the PGE car has hit ebay. Too bad CN never ran anything like these. I always liked CP and BC Rail's robot and air repeater cars.

Sean, What era does the LIRR unit fit into? The 1980s in that paint scheme. They were rebuilt as I understand it, in the early 70's and lasted until the mid 90s. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. I like the CP robots too. The runour mill says that TLT is coming out with the dbl door NSC outside braced boxcar, and if that's the case I'll be building a CPHX robot car for sure... CN does have air repeater cars, now. Ex CB&Q boxcars. But they're too new for you I figure, eh Taylor?

They were going to use the old Sylvan model as a starting point, but since Atlas is making them they decided not to.

TLT has beaucoup dollars invested in the NSCs, so a little birdy told me that they are going to continue with the straight post versions (rather than the wedge-shaped door post style Atlas is doing) and the dbl door CP and BCR version to recoup some of their tooling costs.
I'm so happy the NSCs are here, I tried (and failed) 3 times to do the CP multimark over the ribs, and ended up doing a GTW and ONR version instead. The 3rd one will stay unfinished!

Cool man, thanks for the info. I got the four CN roadnames from Atlas preordered and it will be nice to have some of the True Line models as well. Just wish I could find a few more CP (multimark and tree logo) as well as the CN yellow door models from Proto!

Well I think I did ok. The PGE sold for $157.50 and the LIRR got 1 bid at $85. In hindsight, LIRR might not have been a good choice for a resell, as its a pretty captive rr that few probably model, but heck it was a fun build anyway!

The Alco cabs arrived on the LIRR around 1971, and had their traction motors removed, but the original; 244 engines remained onboard to provide heat and light to the coaches. later they were gradually replaced with other diesel generators. Originally they were painted in a gray/blue/yellow scheme but the blue and white scheme was adopted during the 1980's. These cab cars lasted quite late with some surviving into the 1990's. A number still survive as display units. Here's a picture of the 612 in the original MTA scheme, passing a freight on the Port Jefferson branch in 1975.
