Well, I'm off to another GE project. This is taking shape to become -8 #8759. One of the more unusual features that is specific to NS -8s is the step down notch on the front a rear anti-climbers. While it's a relatively simple build in theory, the actual build has turned out to be a bit more than that. Its not complicated but here is a quick synopsis of what has occurred so far: - Received the -8 in Norfolk Southern as painted by Atlas - Stripped - Since the Atlas -8 does not have rear anti-climbers an the NS -8s due, I had to graph the rear anti-climber on the -8 from a -8 32BHW. - "Notch" the front a rear anti-climber per NS spec. - Begin installation of SV handrails to mirror NS specs. - Since the Atlas -8 does not have GE anti-climber supports, these are being made from a strip of styrene and bent as best as I could to replicate the real thing. - Various detail parts are being installed. Of note, the DW plow was trimmed down. What does that mean you ask? The plows on NS locos are only as wide as the pilot face itself, where on other roads (including those that made up present day NS), the plows overhang each side by quite a bit. Anyway, here are some pics. Please ask any questions you have and I will do my best to answer anything I can. And for those that are Facebook friendly, I urge you to take a look at the DD group.

Looks good. Norfolk Southern was a lot like Southern in their early years.
