Hey detailers,
I am looking for a listing of suggested detail parts for Railpower SD60Ms... Loaded question, I get it... I am looking for non-specific roadname details. For example, who makes a nice 52" see through fan for the dynamic brake? I just could not stand that cheezy looking thing that RailPower molded into the shell. I have already replaced the blower housing with a Cannon part and it looks much better than the stock Railpower part.
How about cutting out the cab nose door? Do I have to make this out of styrene or does someone make a replacement door? We all like doors to be open on the occasional model, so how do we make a good representation of a 60M with an open front door?
Also, I notice a large box behind the fireman's side of the cab but in front of the blower housing. I guess this must be an air conditioner kind of like the GEs? but I notice some proto photos that have no box and UP has boxes that appear different than BNSF.
Thanks for all comments about how to detail a 60M for various roads

Ok there is one see thru 52" dynamic brake made Details Associates but honestly I would use the Cannon SD60 dynamic brake hatch. You can't see thru the real ones and the Cannon one is way awesome.
No nose door should be left open on a moving engine first all. Safety issue if they hit something. No one that I know of makes a replacement door for the SD60M. Your best bet is to make one out of plastic if you really want it to be open.
That box your are referring to is an electrical cabinet on UP SD60M's only. No other railroad has a big cabinet like that. The a/c is under the cab on these engines.
Hope this helps a little.
