COMPUTER UPDATE:
It appears that the board controller that handles the hard drive cannot manage a 2TB hard drive. So today the shop is swapping it out for a 1TB drive.
EX QNS&L SD40-2 VIDEO BUILD:
Once I get the computer back and it is running properly, I will finish up all the video clip processing I have and get back to the locomotive modeling. I had made so many video clips that I was getting confused as to what sequence they are in. It took me a while to sort them. So all work has ceased on the locomotives until I get the videos that I have shot all processed. Then I can start fresh and this time I will not shoot so many clips before processing them.
CONCENTRATE GONDOLA SET:
I had to make a new draw bar. Thanks for the information gdrmco gave me about sizing the car set to fit the rotary dumper. The cars a closer together now and the set looks great. Tonight I will finish the draw bar and get the first half of the mold poured. This will be my first cavity mold. I shot primer on the two cars last night and will get the first coat of orange on them tonight. The trucks and wheels were painted a while ago and only need to get some weathering on them. They actually look pretty good as they sit, but I want to put some more dust and coloration effects on them.
After some discussion with Anthony about how to letter a draw bar set of cars and doing some online research, I have come up with the following scheme. As mentioned, the cars are orange with black lettering. So for visualizing this explanation. lets put the cars perpendicular to north and south. So one side of the cars will be facing north and one side facing south. The east and west end of the cars have couplers. The two car set is draw bared together. Looking at the north side of the car. The reporting marks and road number will be on the left car. There will be an A after the road number. The right car will just have the letter B where the reporting marks and road number would be. Both cars will have full load and dimi data and any other safety lettering necessary. The east and west end of the cars will have the reporting marks and road number without the letter designation. Looking at the south side of the cars, the reporting marks and road number will be on the left car with the letter B after the road number. The other car will have the letter A where the reporting marks and road number would be. Both cars will have the CSR logo. The logo is the same as what I put on my locomotives with the exception that the AZ state is in black and the lettering is white. The logo placement will be to the right of the center rib on both cars, both sides.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
Thanks to Eric again for providing me with more information. I have now on my list of things to get, sulfuric acid tanks. Both for the use in agriculture for fertilizer and also to be transported to the mine for copper processing. My line also interchanges with the Copper Basin Railway and they deliver acid to the processing plant in Hayden, AZ. I have to do more research, but I also think that sulfuric acid is used to concentrate copper. I know it is used as a leaching bath, but on which side of the process being before concentrating or after. I am not sure yet.
