Close - it's gp40-2 long hood... that black dynamic should give it away, lol...

Thanks Mike - it's been pretty quiet around here, so figured I stir the pot a bit...

I will take a stab and say Reading GP39-2. Yes that is my final answer! so to quote Terrel Owens " CTC " or in layman's terms cut the check. If it is, I think D&H Lighting Stripe paint would look best. No bias here! I am the arch duke of impartiality! Erik

Well Erik, you score points tonight for the first legitimate guess, but it won't be a 39-2. This is the incorrect dynamic unit for that. I just finished up that unit and will post tomorrow when I can get some natural light going. There were threads on this board earlier this year that show this build. They got me thinking about building this unit. dieseldetailer.proboards.com/thread/12767/ns-gp-38-3

That's what I get for jumping the gun! I just asumed being you are out in LV Country. I looked at the fans and not the hatch. I forget that NS runs out there now. When I lived out there it was the land of CR & D&H. Oh well I will have to see if I can did up some photos of the GP38-3 I did long ago. Before there were Cannon fans and such. I think if I remember correctly I built it about 6 months after the first one was released form the NS shops. Erik

HI Bill, Here are the only two photos that I can find of the one I built. I did this one way back when. I was built from photos out of Railpace and a few that were on the net. But back then there was not the photo sites on the web like there is now. This was built before the ready to run and Kato was king. Thanks for digging these up. You've got all the right pieces there, Erik - Qfans for the rad cooling, metal plate over the center fan housing, AC unit and the antennas mounted as per the prototype. I'd say this is a stand-up job considering how long ago this was done. I think that is an Athearn blue-box shell, judging by the pilot, so this is a great effort.

I couldn't sleep last night and realized that I not only needed the Athearn DB blister, but also would need to modify the long hood on a GP40-2 shell with the 50 series corrugated rad grilles and then also change out the corresponding hood doors to match. Parts on order, c'mon Dave, how fast can you ship, lol....

I've made my first cuts on the GP40-2 shell, and thankfully, Dave's team did a great job shipping the parts out quickly... Apologies for the picture quality - -bill
