Looking at Eric's C30-7 build made me dig out my one and only BN GE. Not 100% sure what it is going to end up as but I am shooting for something like this www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=424571&nseq=3Starting point I have something in mind for the van as well but am still studying some pics.

It would be a neat model to have, should not take much work. You might not want to use 5017,5026, or 5023, as those were the one involved in the crash

You could also opt to model one of the MMA units and take that CP caboose sitting next to it in the photo, and reprint that for one of the MMA VB remote cabooses. Very common prototypical lash up for MMA trains #1 and #2. Note the lead of the consist involved in the Lac Megantic wreck was MMA 5017 followed by VB-4. The power consist in the wreck was not heavily damaged and will likely return to service if/when the MMA ever does.

So many Dash 7's went to South America at the end of their careers. I wonder how many of them are still running?

I ordered some wire to represent the conduit on the roof and power cable. I don't know whether to toss it in the stripper or find an undec to start with.

The MMA rosters units 5016, 5017, 5018, 5021, 5023, 5026, and 5078. Not all are serviceable, although it was previously mentioned that the 5017, 5023, and 5026 were in the Lac Megantic lash up. Note that the 5078 is the only one of the group that is painted in the whiteface scheme, and was shown as the lead unit of MMA train #1 waiting on the east side of Lac Megantic at the time of the wreck.
