Picked up a partially completed P2K 50 footer for $5 at a garage sale last year and finally got around to detailing it in the downtime I've had over the last month. Some of the grabs were broken off and nowhere to be found and the ladders had been glued into the wrong pilot holes. I fixed the ladders but left a couple of the grabs off as they were on the end and not likely to be seen in a consist. I also didn't put the roof walkway on it as it wasn't the correct type, looked like crud, and the CB&Q took the roof walks off fairly quickly anyway. Came out pretty good, especially when you consider I don't use an airbrush. Sorry, this one's a little out of focus.

If you were to be real correct w/o roof walk you'd shorten the ladders & lower the brake wheel. But saw a few high ones in late '90s on BNSF. See if you can find pix of that car type from the era you're modeling.

I settled on single door variants as a basis for the weathering detail. On both single and double door versions some ladders were cut down, some were not. I'm not a rivet counter so I decided to not cut down the ladders simply based on laziness, as this was just a fun afternoon project for a rainy day.

I had a few minutes to mess around with the 'filters' editing on a cell phone pic I had of this car. I was pretty surprised by the difference and it was kind of fun. Firstly, the original: Auto-enhance: "Twilight:" "Twilight" on top of auto-enhance: I like the way the Twilight one turned out.....
