This is just some experiments on using brass to detail my BN SD60M. I wanted to show how easy this all can be done just by taking your time and trying new techiques. This is using brass sheet (0.005") to make a bracket like the prototype. This is some tank detail, the overflow pipe was made from 0.028" wire and the bracket was made (by watching Brian Banna's video) from 0.010" brass wire annuled and the one end flattened the bent around the pipe. The fuel overflow tube is 0.010" brass wire annuled and bend into shape with a #80 hole drilled into the side of the filler spout and another into the tank itself. These are the break-away bars that the chain is hooked to on most engines. It is 0.012" brass wire that was annuled and flattened on one end, a #80 was drilled in the flat end and then it was bent at a 90 degree. the chain link was cut open with a hobby knife then the chain was fitted over the flat end and then crimped back together. Sorry the pictures are not that clear. I will try to get them better at another time..

Cool, where are these Brian Banna videos?
Turned out really nice, but he big question........how many attempts did it take to get to that point?

Go to Brian's website at the top of the DD page and there is link to his page, or you can go to YouTube and search Brian Banna and his videos will come up.
Honestly it took me a couple of times to get it right but the end result was all worth it in my eyes. And I know if i can do it anyone here on the DD can do. It just takes patience and effort. And using the right tools.
I will show more pics of this engine over the next couple of weeks. I am in the finishing stages of the detailing and I am going over how I am going to weather this thing.
The annulling only consists of a small candle and wire and something to flatten the wire with. Just run the wire through the flame a couple times kinda quickly and let it cool off for a second and it because soft . Also just annulling the wire makes it easy to bend the wire into different shapes with just your fingers. I encourage everyone here to just try it with some scrap wire and see how it goes. Play around with it, I made a speed recorder cable out of the soft wire and it looks pretty good to me.
Anyway play with this just dont burn yourself.
