blu tack is the same as any around the world i guess i think it may be poster tack where you are !! used instead of drawing pins !!....modelling uses are endless , best most versatile modelling tool in the box !!

Nice job on this. I think this could have gone in the regular -2 section as you're doing a lot to this, just the base unit and the motor & flywheels come to around $75, but don't move it now. I think this is gonna look very nice, but do you plan on giving it a bit of road grim/dust?

Thanks!! Someone else is alive here!! I appreciate it! I'm going to add some grim, but this ones relatively new in my roster... Technically, I pirated the motor from one of my old, dead projects - so that one cost me $0.00!!!

MORE STUFF: Air filter/dryer, added to the underside of the Engineer's side... Then, for the first time, put the body and chassis together, and checked truck clearance! Also noticed the truck sideframes are unrealistically brown! I'll have to fix that.... A few more details. First, Details West traction motor cables... Then, I started setting up the body, for coupler mounts... And the frame... I'm gonna use a long 2-56 screw, to also use to secure the body to the frame!

Added some details, vent & purge lines to the Conductor's side of the fuel tank.... Then, I wanted to get creative.... I bought a 100ft spool of 28 gauge foam cutting wire. Looking at prototype pics, I noticed quite a bit of piping, and bundled harnesses, running under both walkways. I thought - why not use some of this cheap wire ($5.99 for 100ft!), to represent some of this!! If I hang some lower, maybe I can hide a little of those big, ugly Athearn gear cases!! So.... I bent some pieces of wire, and held them together with dots of CA... Then, I cut small strips of the original Athearn steel positive power strip, cemented them to the bundles, then cemented those to the underframe!!! I'll add later, some more wires (different sizes), and it should fill in those gaps between the truck sideframes, and the frame!

There was an article in MR quite a few years back that improved the performance of Athearn BB locomotives. I have actually used it on some of the new RTR stuff too and it works like a charm. If you apply Colgate regular toothpaste to the gears while breaking it in, and break it in for about an hour, varying speed, it will clean the "burs" off the gears. It's a bit time consuming, but well worth it. After the break-in, wash the gears thoroughly in warm water and let dry. Then, re-assemble the trucks and gears and lubricate with the appropriate lubricant. It will run smoother than any Athearn you've ever run and without gear noise. Look in the MR archives for the article, but the results are fantastic!

..... I thought it was Pearl Drops... Either way, I could see any good coarse whitening toothpaste would work! Thanks for reminding me about that! I'm going this far, can't forget quiet & smooth!

Sorry I dropped this thread guys! My Photobucket went kaput, and ALL of my pics were lost! I have a couple, near completion... It needed a few more details, but I wanted to give you an idea! I'll try to get some more finished pics... Thanks for looking, and always appreciate your comments!
