This LL P2K GP38-2 in SP, is a complete hand-me-down (seriously, who really wants a botched LL P2K model when the Athearn Genesis SP 38-2s kick so much a**!). I have nothing into it, the short fuel tank and lack of ANYTHING correct for the first order GP38-2s for SP (numbered 4810...probably the reason it was handed off to me).
Doing some research I found some silver lining for this model, otherwise it would've ended up in the trash. SP had some HELM leased GP38-2 in the 90s from CSX. The detail on the model really resembles 4869. I plan to keep the paint, strip the lettering, re-decal with a $4 minical MC-4382, get a whopping 9 detail parts (DA Pyle Headlight for the nose, Cannon Air Reservoirs, Cannon angled 38 air filter, Cannon 38 waffle style grills, and a DW P3 horn, etc). NCE Decoder, I'm modeling a pre-ditchlight era so this works out well. Total cost of build even at SRP $54.90 ;D
I know I can a few of those parts discounted if I look around....Here comes "The Hunt!"
