Good afternoon, I finished this engine last night. It is a Kato CEFX AC4400CW matched to prototype photos. This locomotive is unique in that it has blue roller bearings on the trucks which is something I have never seen on a locomotive before. I added a few simple parts that really improved the appearance of that engine. Details West - air filter/dryer - trainline hoses - spare knuckles w/ brackets - snow plow with grab irons added Miscelaneous - A Line windshield wipers - various Microscale striping, data, and warning labels added - Grab iron added to nose door - Grab iron added on roof just behind cab on conductor's side Extensive detail painting, replaced battery compartment door painted primer grey, black wash on all intake grills, dry brushed paints and weathering chalks all sealed with dullcoat. I will be as soon as I obtain the parts be adding mirrors to the cab sides as well. This is the fourth of a fleet of 6 Canadian Pacific GE's to be completed. I apologize for the grainy pictures. Enjoy and have a great day. Shane

Sweet! Is CEFX a Canadian thing?

CEFX is the reporting marks for CIT Group or Capital Finance, also known as CITI Bank.
In 2003 General Electric built 59 AC4400CW's for CIT Group in the # series 1001-1059. #'s 1001-1025 were built to BNSF specifications and while they spent a large amount of time on the BNSF they tended to roam the country. #'s 1026-1059 were built to Canadian Pacific specifications and were placed on long term lease with CP.
The Kato model was built after the engines with BNSF specifications. Since the CEFX units frequently pass through where I live and model I needed one to add to my fleet of CP GE's. Since I am not a fan of painting locomotives and primarily build freightcars I made it easy on myself and used the Kato engine as is and no one is the wiser. Even better is the fact that the CEFX units built to BNSF specs are frequently found on the CP so even though I found no recorded photographs of the 1021 on CP there is a very good possibility that it had been at some point

Hi Shane
Nice job on the AC4400CW. You really captured the look and feel of those prototypes.

These have got to be the best looking lease units out there, that scheme really suits the lines of the big GE. Nice work capturing the essence of a simple locomotive and great weathering job!

I really like this paint scheme on the CEFX AC44's and SD70M-2's.

Very nice, thats factory paint still? The added details do make a huge difference, and the weathering looks great.
Are these still "tied" to the BNSF and CP or are they leased out to other roads today?

Thanks for the kind words. I think this scheme is by far the best lease paint scheme out there, although I am fond of the green and silver FURX units.
Mike, The unit was a factory painted unit, and the units with CP specs are still tied to CP. the others I am not so sure about as I have seen them in Pennsylvania and Virginia on CSX and Norfolk Southern.

Actually they are built to a combination of UP and CP. The lower numbered ones have UP cab signals. They also have the CP hot plates.
The higher number units have a bracket between the windshields for the cab signal display, but are otherwise identical to the rest of CP's AC4400s.
