I built this unit from a Athearn Genesis unit that was in the Burgandy EMD Demo scheme. Added Soundtraxx Tsunami sound, LED headlights and ditchlights, cut levers, mu cables and hoses, phase II cab and flared radiators, shellscale & microscale decals. Still need to add the wipers, grabirons, and last two front handrails.

Close up on the flared radiator section. I reglued that loose RH ditchlight btw...I also need to do a little more work to the cab windows and add the sunshades. Brad

Was that the crappy resin cab and radiator section someone was selling on ebay and looked like it was carved out of a block of cheese and cast in a Play-Do mold with candle wax?? I purchased one, got it and promptly demanded my money back and sent it back....the set I received bordered on useless and I had no faith in another one.
If it is, you did a great job cleaning it up......nice work...if not, how did you make the cab??

what did you use for the window set? I couldn't get the stock athearn to fit so I just replaced them w some thin clear plastic leftover from a walthers structure kit. I still need to do some work on the window structure itself as it lacks some of the middle window details and mirrors.

I was able to clean it up considerably, but the inside of the cab , like you said, was a disaster. If I was to do it again, I would just use the stock athearn genesis cab despite it not being a phase 2 cab. I just cannot tell the difference. It took alot of work. Id just stick w the dlhlocos flared section like I did on the Kato sd70m I did a year ago. Brad

I have the DLH one as well, and I believe those being sold on ebay are piss poor rip offs of the DLH parts.
I have noticed more and more "resin casters" on ebay, that don't even understand the basics of the process. I now stay away from most all them. If your going to cast and sell parts, at least spend the $150 for a decent pressure pot and compressor.......that's the simplest solution to a lot of these sellers casting problems. Enough of my rant!!
