Nice work, what kind of load is that? Thanks! I have no idea what it is. It looks like some type of refinery equipment and someone on another forum mentioned it looked like something from a steam/generator manufacturing facility. I posted pics of the prototype in my other thread about this car. What do you think it is? Holy Cow Batman thats awesome. When I first saw it I never thought that you used wood for any of it. Very nice work and attentation to detail. Thanks for sharing.. Thanks! Yeah, I wanted to stick to materials on hand and for theose pieces I had wood on hand that was about the right sizes and easily modified. To me the most unusual material to use was the floral foam I carved for the sections between the seperating disks.

It's a rotating kiln retort for extracting oil from shale. The whole machine is about thre to four times longer than what you built. And, yes, it gets very hot!!

So, the proto pic I used only had a section of the machine. It would've been great if there were pics of the entire thing being moved. That would be a neat manifest. Cool. The main car is all metal so it has good weight even when empty. As you can see, with a little work it looks real nice.

I did have one before but got rid because I didn't have room for such large freight cars but I joined a club that does.
