I just figured I'd post a little about my imaginary (for now) proto-freelance railroad, the Franklin and Lake Erie. Please bear with me as I'm really not the best writer, or even close.
Route:
The Franklin and Lake Erie mainline is the former PC/NYC trackage from Franklin, PA to Ashtabula, OH. They also have a branch line known as the Pymatuning Branch that is former PRR trackage from Jamestown, PA to just North of Linesville, PA.
History:
The history is pretty similar to many shortlines. As the former NYC was being abandoned, the F&LE was chartered by local business owners to purchase the route and continue rail services.
Roster:
Number Builder Model
1000 Alco S2
1600 Alco RS3
2400 Alco C424
2401 Alco C424
2402 Alco C424
3000 Alco C430
C100 N/A Shoving Platform
Operations:
Operations are based out of Jamestown, PA with the engine terminal and a small yard being there. Just West of the yard is the former location of the diamond and where the Pymatuning Branch splits off from the main. One turn regularly works each to Ashtabula and back and to Franklin and back as needed and the Pymatuning Branch is also worked infrequently as needed. Interchanges are made with the Western New York and Pennsylvania at Reno (Franklin), Norfolk Southern at Osgood, and CSX at Ashtabula.
I hope to draw up a map and logo soon, but they won't be pretty. Paint scheme is simple blue with orange writing and cab or hood ends, depending on locomotive.
