How do hou make window glass? It's not flat like on locomotives. I got some resin cast GMC 9500 s, just like my family's company had. I hope to letter some piggyback trailers for our former company.

My GMC was done from a Lindberg kit, and I actually used the old Lindberg windshield: But I've switched to using the clear plastic from the blister packs that my vehicles come in. I learned that trick on another forum, and the difference is amazing. This is a modified Herpa Pete:

On my "someday" list, I'm going to try to convert Herpa's White/GMC city cab into a sleeper cab just to run something different.
Meanwhile, there's a ready-mix plant near home that has a cement mixer using the same Mack refuse/postal cab you have above.

Sorry, no tutorial...just got it from a guy on the old Atlas forum. Most of my stuff is posted in www.protomodeler.com/index.php?/forum/93-vehicles/, and a few other folks show up in there, too. Unfortunately, I didn't take many in-progress shots. The key is to play around with all of your empty packaging until you find a suitably-close bend. I use ink pens to mark and a good pair of scissors to trim. It'll take an hour or better to do two windows, and then I set them with Micro Krystal Kleer. I model 1978-81. I really got into doing the truck thing two winters ago, and one of the bigger challenges was finding good time-appropriate core models. You can't get nice models of old stuff unless you're into the 1950's. The Pete was an inspired shot at cleaning up and backdating the old Herpa model, which at a glance just looks crude and toylike. First things first, throw out the terrible Herpa wheels, and strip that silver "chrome" finish. Fenders, mirrors, glass, and mudflaps go a long way.
