Seeing as the first two locomotives of a planned large fleet have been painted up I thought I'd just share an update on my freelanced entity... (The pictures shown were taken by Brian Kuhn on his layout) They're both Kato SD70Ms, 4001 is named 'Revolution' and 4002 is 'Townsville' (the port at the eastern end of the GDRMCo line). Enjoy...

Looking good, nice plausible and appealing scheme.

Thanks guys, the next lot of locos (SD80MACs) will also have GDRMCo lettering on the nose (forgot about it when getting the decals for these 2....).

I have a brand new undecorated one if you'd like to make it 8?

I'd consider it but I really only planned to have 7 of them from the start, the rest of the roster is to be SD70Ms and possibly SD70MACs.

They're a little ways off honestly, got them all ready to go to paint but there's some rolling stock to go thru the paintshed first, namely some diesel fuel tankers.

Yeah I have rolling stock by the dozen waiting to go through the shops but I keep finding another loco!

That's the thing tho, rolling stock is generally cheaper (especially in N scale) so I can buy more of it!

I'm selling off a large portion if ny unwanted rolling stock to fund a layout but I've still got a sizeable fleet to paint and/IR patch, weather, fit metal wheels, adjust couple heights! Should keep me busy over the winter.

Just be glad you don't need several thousand ore hoppers..... I do need to find more of the flat radiator version of Katos SD70M tho, need 11 more to fill out that part of the roster.

I have a Kato SD70MAC. Didn't know they did a 70M? What scale are you?

Just as well you didn't take my offer of that 80MAC then, it would've looked like it had been on steriods! My bad.

Haha no problem, funny thing is tho I'm leaning towards a SD80MAC dominant roster atm...nothing like big power to haul big trains!

I love them but haven't the room or the money for a roster of them. Settled on some SD40-2's and C39-8's plus a switcher and maybe a Geep or two. Already have them all; its just a matter of which ones I sell and which ones I keep.
I've also got 11 or jennies so far, been at least three times that many!

Just thought I'd post up the drawing of the livery for the SD80MACs. There will be 213 total on roster...this will be complemented by the 13 SD70Ms and 13 ex-CP SD9043MACs. As part of those 213 SD80s unit no.5100 will be a special 8-axle test unit, it is part of the 2004 order. Should be quite a fun kitbash to try and get 8 powered axles in N scale...
