Oh my! It has parts missing, so it is probably not worth saving. So with that in mind, you should send it straight away to me. I will dispose of it correctly! LOL
In reality, I can imagine that it will become a great model. Just needs a bit of TLC. Maybe make it into a dummy MU unit?
Great find,

How about this slug? You have the frame, both the chop nose for height and the rear hood. leave both ends, remove cab and cut out sides add back the radiator doors in sets of two on each end, or use Cannon rad doors. Also use cannon radiator roof stock or just profile your own styrene. Then paint and detail in your own road colors... H in AL

Wow, that has the makings for a great ILS unit!

I'm seeing a Milwaukee Road SD10 there The hard part is done, the short nose is already chopped! The slug isnt a bad idea either for a more modern model.

If it were mine I'd make a road unit out of it.Would make a decent shortline or regional loco.

Ya I don't think I will cut it up, I love chopped noses! I like the rc unit, and the ILS unit is a nice idea too. Maybe something like this www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1706376Sam.

This is my SD9.It is a old Athearn blue box that I bought in 1980.It lived on a hobby shop layout for most of it's first 10 years and the only thing left of the original loco is the shell and chassis (8 hours a day 6 days a week for almost 10 years). Anyway I chopped the short hood originally used the stock cab with a rebuilt front wall it now has a RP cab if I remember correctly from the RP SD45. Does not get much use at the moment (still DC) but I thought I would show you what I did with mine. One of these days I may even finish her,one of the things on the to do list is painting her in the current burgundy/light grey paint scheme..

My vote is for slug too. That way you won't have to do the steps, you can just cut the sub-base off. You won't have to add as many parts to it either. It's pretty easy to sand down the pilots if you have coarse enough sandpaper.
