In addition to my Ex E-L SDP45 and finishing up my SD60m and SD60I I found this on that auction site, I forgot to take before pics but ill describe the issue.,This is the RTR SD40-2 painted in Conrail #6364 all was good until someone applied alcohol or some other chemical that started to dissolve the paint and lettering and also left white droplets everywhere as an attempt at weathering. The first thing I did was tear it apart and drop in 91% alcohol. Within a few minutes the paint was gone, a quick wash in soap and water and I got to painting. The handrail s were unaffected by this chemical so I removed them. After the initial coat of Floquil Conrail blue I masked the nose top, pilots and walkways I shot them with a 70% Engine Black and 30% Grimy Black. I used Brian Banna's technique of using metal foil and some tape and I gotta hand it to him, the Bare Metal Foil is an excellent masking material.
