Guys, Had to stop working on layout for a while and back to working on locos. Two of my FWWR being built got destroyed by my wife's 65lb puppy, I almost killed the damn thing. Anyway after locating a couple of shells the build will start again soon. Here is one of them: While waiting on the shell's to show up, I figured I finish getting the bottom end completed. On the fuel tank there seem to be large patch's. Using Athearn frames anybody have any idea how to represent this: Was thinking about using .005 styrene, but how do you form and adhere to the Athearn metal frames. Anybody??

When I needed to enlarge the fuel tank for my SDP45 build I used .005" sheet styrene. What I did was using CA glued the starting edge gave the glue time to harden then started forming it to the tank shape. It was a slow process (run a bead of glue clamp the plastic tight to the tank, wait for the glue to harden then repeat). I used wide rubber bands (a lot of them) to hold the plastic in place.Someday I will finish this monster.

That 'patched' area is where they built in the retention tank, to keep leaking oil, water etc from the engine compartment from dripping out on the roadbed.
