Guys, here is the latest low nose unit to roll out of the shop. This is a P2K SD-45 mounted onto a Kato chassis. A wonderful rendition of a favorite locomotive from P2K and a very nice running chassis/motor from Kato. Hard to beat!! Bob

Anthony, I would have to say the P2K is my favorite model to use now after building this Clinchfield model. The Athearn model would be second and the Kato third. However, I have not high nosed a P2K SD-45 so the race is still on for the top spot. I do have a couple of the P2K undecs for such a model and I hope to get to try the new Plano radiator screens and a ton of Cannon parts next time around. Here's one more shot of the 3627. Bob

I have an Athearn 45 waiting for its time but I have heard good things about the LL 45 with body details. I don't hi-nose mine but I am interested in seeing the next one come together with all the Cannon parts, if you don't mind sharing with us. Any 45-2's in the works, Clinchfield ones maybe?

Hi Bob, Really nice work on that SD45. I really like the dynamic blister modifications. Do you have any "in progress" shots of that? Thanks, Charlie Lindsay

Anthony, I have a couple of undec SD45-2's in the closet that will be built as Clinchfield models, but they're not real high on the to do list at this time as I'm having to devote a lot of time to "F" units and cabs. Hi Bob, Really nice work on that SD45. I really like the dynamic blister modifications. Do you have any "in progress" shots of that? Thanks, Charlie Lindsay Charlie, I can't get Photobucket to cooperate with me today, but here is a scan of step 002 showing how I removed the front end from a Kato SD40-2 DB hatch and how long it should be. I then removed the same amount, .715", from the DB hatch on the P2K model and then cemented the Kato part to the P2K part. It was not a 100% perfect match between the two parts, but was close enough to appear correct. Bob

Makes me want to keep my Kato SD45 and do something with it! Mine is a stock WC shell with some C&C fans, paint doesn't match exactly but once I've weathered it I'm hoping it'll look fine.
Good effort, nice model.
