This one is for GT Dan and the other folks that need to improve the cab, nose, and battery boxes on the ATLAS/ROCO GP/SD shells. Take a razor saw and cut the whole cab/nose/battery box section off and replace it with Cannon Parts. It sure makes a difference. I also replace the long hood end with a Cannon part too.

Thanks Randy!
I will check this out. I have a high hood NS just like the one in your post above. I just might try this out.
Thanks again,
GT Dan

Anybody know where to get concor wheelsets to fit these old Atlas/Roco units? Concor's had properly RP25 profiled wheels, not the Atlas/Roco moondisks. I'd like to swap them out on my NW SD35...

Sean,
I checked, and ConCor no longer has any parts in stock for these - well, none are listed on their website. NWSL has replacements that are nickle silver - but aren't cheap @ 25 bucks for 4 2558-6 is 40" wheels with code 110 wheels and 14T gears 2559-6 is 40" wheels with code 88 wheels and 14T gears
Note - you'd need 2 sets for the 6 axle model. Sometimes you can find these on Ebay for cheap... but I didn't go looking there.
Brian
PS - You coming to the DT&I meet this summer???

Married? Well, my best to ya! Hope that goes well. Yes - you should come to the Marion event - excellent models - and many, many trains to watch. Some good clinics too. - Yes - I suppose some extra persuasion might be required to get Mr. Heiden to come out of his hole. I haven't seen him in a very long time. Regards, Brian PS - Does Scott have email?
