This is a project looooooong in the making ,but hopefully shorter in the doing.I am doing this one along with a SD40-2 and two GP 35s but this is the only G&M loco . Since it is to be a secondhand CN loco purchase I started by removing the external AC unit. Got to have a Canadian cab for a Canadian based loco.At this point the cab is simply setting in place Continued next post

Work continues with removing the radiator grilles for replacement with Detail Associates etched grilles. The grilles installed, make quite a difference.Still don't understand why they did not etch all of the Dash-9 grilles. Here you see the rear grab irons installed they are not correct for a Canadian unit but G & M had to make some changes.

The loco as she sets now.Have installed DCC since these pics but the slush fund is dry so there are no lights yet.I believe I forgot to mention the cab is from Trains Canada and is quite impressive to my eyes. I have not decided what to do about the railings. The old girl is going to get used on both my clubs layout and several friends so I most likely will just use the stock metal Athearn units till I have more money for the project.

Got a little more done.I installed most of the cab grabs except for the ones over the winsheilds and the ladder grabs that go on the sides of the hood.I also got the cab primed. ;D I can see by that lower pic that I will be doing some new railings front and rear.

Tiny bit of progress on the -9.Changed the front hand rail to the CSX style (not sure it's right but it's my loco ;D)ot the engineers long hood railing installed .Made the grabs for over the windsheild and screwed up both of them . Got the conductor side long railing done so I thought I would just add the pic to this post.

Long story short,if your interested in these sort of things. The fella that was designing and making my Greenwich & Meridian decals is having health problems so the decals are delayed.
Now as for the name change .In theory my Grande Valley Railway is headquartered in the old GR&I yard in Grand Rapids (where I actually live) so I have decided the the GVR will share space with the modern GR&I which in my scenario is once again a independent railroad sharing space with a Michigan regional tailroad.
