Ill second the scheme, simple but very sharp. It turned out really cool with the EMD cab as well, nice looking rebuild.

Thanks Richard and Mike! It was a nice surprise that the Cannon cab fit as well as it did.

Here is an updated photo...I decided that I wanted to use this loco for a late 70's, early 80's era. I removed the footboards and made pilot faces from .005 styrene. ACI boards were added to a stanchion on each side. I also added new hand grabs to each end of the cut levers, using super glue gel to help simulate the welds that the shop did.

Thanks, Casey and Vince! I am very happy with the cab and the way that it updated the appearance of the little loco.

Did you set it up for DCC? Any details on which decoder you used and how hard it was to install. Your loco looks great and now I'd like to get mine going too.

I ended up removing the top weight (it's still PLENTY heavy without it!) and hardwiring in an Athearn circuit board so I could just plug in a decoder and use the 1.5v outputs for bulbs if I wanted to. The wiring is really simple...the truck wires attach to each end of the board and the motor wires solder to one side of it. One motor wire attaches directly to the top brush holder; the other motor lead attaches to a screw that used to hold the factory circuit board in place, on top of the motor case itself. Simple enough! Please ask if you have questions.

I took mine apart today and found that it still ran even though it had been wet at some point.
I see what you mean about the weight, it is still heavy even after removing it.
Did you isolate the motor using a strip if foam tape or something similar?
Thank you for the help!

Did you isolate the motor using a strip if foam tape or something similar? Thank you for the help! I did do that...I just forgot about it. I removed the motor and rethreaded the mounting hole to fit a 2/56 plastic screw. I used a Kadee coupler screw. I also used a piece of electrical tape to insulate the motor from the frame. I'm not sure all of this was necessary, but I did it anyway.
