Hi All, I thought I'd post a photo of one of the engines currently on my workbench; in fact, this one might hold the record for longest time on the workbench, about four years since I started it (can you tell I get easily distracted? ) RLK 2211 is one of five four-axle engines remaining on the Goderich-Exeter RR, a Canadian RailAmerica operation (formerly RailTex). It is one of a small group of GP35's purchased from CP (GMD-built GP35's). Sister road SOR has one, but it has been out of service for most of the last year. This was one of the first projects I started, and was one of my first majorprojects (at the time, I considered changing the steps a big deal... not so bad now, though!). It started as a RTR CP Athern engine that was repainted with a combination of Tamiya and TLT paints. The colours represent the paint scheme when it was new (mid-1990's?), but the red and blue has since faded badly - I intend to weather it to its' current appearance. In addition to new front and rear headlights, a new bell and new pilots were added, along with a CP-style winterization hatch. Next step will be decals, using Highball Graphics sets. Then, put the handrails and some other parts back on. Hopefully I can get it wrapped up this weekend, but we'll see... Anyway, here are some photos. The real thing: And my rendition: Thanks for looking, hope you like it, Cheers, Peter.

Oooo Canadian shortline stuff, me like.
Looks like it's coming along well. Going to use the stock handrails or aftermarket stanchions and rebend your own?

Looks good Peter. But 4 years ain't gonna set a record around here, my Dash 8 project (burried somewhere in the GE builds forum now) was sitting on my bench in various states of completion for over 10 years before I finally finished it! (actually there still a little left to do, but they can at least be run again)

Thanks for the comments, guys - appreciate it!
Mrdan, seeing as I already redid the steps, I don't think the stock handrails will work, or it might take some effort to get them to fit. So I think I am going go with brass stanchions and new brass handrails; also to get that CP 'hoop' on the front and rear handrails.
Thanks for you interest,
Cheers, Peter.
