Started with a Life Like SD9 and replaced the cab, nose, and sub base with cannon parts. I also cut off the SD9 step wells and put front step wells from a SD40. I have etched steps and a ton of other details to put on.

That Details West coupler bolster goes on the inside of the front pilot.

I really like this! I had the unit shortly after it was rebuilt. They did another rebuild similar to this. It had the external changes to the nose and steps, but it still had the can control stand, 6 brake, and original electrical cabinet.

Quick update, got some more work done the last couple of days. Test fitting the shell on the frame. Just need to figure out a good way to mount the couplers since this had the open bottom pilot originally.

Nice loco and paint job. I suppose C&S 813 would look very similar. I like the 1725.

I'm sorry, but I don't have any pictures. I believe that that I was supposed to have it on the return leg of my first run as engineer. Something was wrong with it and the reverser was not working, so the run canceled, as it was the only eastward facing unit. Shortly afterward it was used around Galesburg, just as any other SD9. I don't remember the number that this unit had before. it must have been 61xx or 62xx like the other SD9s. I also can't remember the number of the unit that got the physical changes, but not internal.

This unit along with her sister, the 1552 are both in Texas and paired up together. As a matter of fact, I've had both of them numerous times on the local I work on. Both are in Temple, TX as local/city power

Kpenn5, thanks for the info, I have never seen them paired together. I dont think I have the patience to build another one to give it a friend. Heres an update, got all the handrails in and painted. I have one side of the frame decals on, just waiting for them to fully dry before doing the other side. Still have to put the electrical cabinet in, have not even built or painted it yet. I am waiting for the wheel slip indicators and cannon fuel tank details to come in stock at the LHS, those should be the last bit needed to allow me to paint the frame and trucks.
