Thanks David! just sent off a note to my LHS to order me a set!
I'm building this car using one of the old walthers waffle cars, and it wouldn't be the same without these trucks!

*Hijack Alert*.......sorry ;D Here are two pics of the Walthers car that I am working on. Obviously this one is going to be CSX but you can see the Kaydee trucks installed. I also replaced all the cast on details. The end ladders are slightly modified extras from an Intermountain PS-1 kit. I think they sell those separately. The side ladder rungs are Tichy. They are an exact fit and the best part is that there are no holes to drill. Just cut out the originals and glue in the replacements. Most of the brake details are from Tichy as well. I did use the two brake levers and slack adjuster left over from a Details Associates kit. The brake wheel is Kaydee. Details West coupler pockets with Kaydee #58 scale couplers. Air hoses and cut levers are DA. Plano end crossover platforms. That is about it. Hopefully I can get around to decaling it soon. Charlie Lindsay

Nice work, Charlie. I started one of these cars a long time ago, but I got distracted by other projects and never made it to the paint stage. What actually distracted me was attempting to model the newer style CSX doors (which are now available from WrightTrak). I took a bunch of detail shots of one of these at the Western Maryland station in Cumberland: CSXT 124083: drolsen.rrpicturearchives.net/rsPicture.aspx?id=353663I got a little frustrated carving all the molded detail off the ends of the car, so I removed the ends completely and replaced them with Intermountain's PS ends. They need an extra strip of styrene at the top to make them as tall as the sides, but it saves a lot of work. I filled all the unnecessary holes in the Intermountain ends with styrene rod (since they are designed for a PS-1 with high ladders). Please share some photos after the decal work is done. I had the opportunity to work with Microscale on the recently-released CSX 50' box car decal set, which I hope will provide you with the lettering you need. Dave

Of interesting note, Tampa has a connection to the development of the roller bearing truck. The first cars the ACL fitted with roller bearing trucks served in the phosphate fields of the Bone Valley, and it was the carshop at Uceta Yard that informed the ACL's head office in Jacksonville that cars with the roller-bearing trucks had lower operating costs than those with "conventional" trucks. The ACL presented its findings to the Association of American Railroads, which lead to other railroads adopting it.
Anyways, enough about that. Lindsaya99, that wafflebox of yours is coming along nicely! I can't wait to see the finished product. ;D
