Tim, that's a very nice looking project there but I have questions regarding the brass pilots and ditch lights:
1) What prevents you from wiring ditch lights to the brass pilots? Conductivity? I always dip the ends of my pico LEDs into glue prior to installing. I use epoxy; it is clear, and so far has sufficient insulation for the job. I now have over half a dozen fully wired AJIN brass locos and I always do it that way. But beware: make sure not to build too big a glue drop over the tiny pico lights, as you won't be able to wire them through the ditch lights castings.
2) where did you found (or who builds) these nice brass pilots?

DA, Kaslo Shops, Athearn Genesis are some available. I have three Intermountain SD40-2W that I am replacing with Athearn Genesis cabs.
