Really cool project. Almost 20 years ago I modeled the MMRR 5967 with an Athearn blue-box GP-9 (only thing available at the time), after a very lucky cab ride on that engine from Lowell to Elmdale and back. There were decals available (don't recall the outfit now, I found them at Riders in G.R.), but that engine is still with me somewhere packed away in boxes. Sure was a sharp paint job on that 5967. I have often wondered what happened to that unit. Seems it "went away" sometime in the mid-1990's. Of course now, the tracks are gone as well. Todd Hello Todd, The 5967 went to the GEXR and then to the CBNS. It was repainted into an attractive green with gold lettering and striping not long after arriving on the CBNS. It was scrapped roughly 5 years ago. If you look closely you can still see the blue roof. www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=8792

Interesting paint scheme on the GP9 Nick. I have seen GSWR (Railtex) GP7u`s in the same scheme.

Nick,
The project is looking good. Remember you don't have to be perfect with your seam lines on the chop nose. Most shops cut them welded and then grinded down the welds, then painted. After painting a lot of times the weld life is were still visible.

Would you happen to have a DPH2005 window piece lying around? Des Plains is out of the split windows and I dont know when they will be in stock again.

You built it once, you can build it again. Don't be afraid to start over until you get results that you like! Your skills will improve each time. I actually ruined two highly detailed shells during painting and started over from scratch, about 80 hours into the project, and the final results were so much better it was totally worth it. (But I didn't see it that way at the time!)
