Can anyone identify the railway that the VLIX 24 unit is displaying the paint scheme of in this pic? www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=2276770I am interested in seeing more views of same as it looks very close to my WBL freelance scheme, but I can not figure out what to search for. TIA, Dunc

That would be the GMD1 BMMX 206 which was sold to Ivaco. I've checked the Mansour Mining and Ivaco web leads and nothing comes up for any locomotives. I would assume (yeah I know, not the thing to do) that both units are sitting at a reseller or rebuilder's yard or something, but who knows for sure.

AHA!!! Found a better pic... On Ottawa Central property. Ottawa ON, July 07. So, what railway was it before it was decommissioned? Is that an OCRR paint scheme?

Hi Dunc, The history of this engine is: Smurfit-Stone Container (Canada) 2 (acq. 3/69 ex L&N 24) Alco S-1 #73586 9/45 I would assume the paint job is the one the mill applied when they purchased this unit from the L&N. This is just a guess, but if you look at the photo link below it shows L&N S1 #45. I would assume this is the paint job it left the L&N in. None of the S1 ever made it to the gray & yellow paint that I know of, unless it was a rebuilt. www.yesteryeardepot.com/LN45.JPGAccording to the L&N diesel locomotive book by TLC says the engine was sold to Hyman-Michaels Co. The unit was retired by the L&N on 7-31-1967 so they my have repainted it before resale to Smurfit-Stone Container. One other note if you look at the last photo you posted a link of to the engine, there are set of roller bearing wheels in front of the engine. This unit was refitted with roller bearings in Ottawa before returning to the US as Vintage Locomotives Inc. #24. Hope this helps Erik

Thanks for that sir. And sorry for the extreme late reply, I have been away from MRing for 8 years due to major discouragement from a flooded basement. But am now returning slowly.
