CN had two groups of the H12-44 1630-1639 class CR-12e was the same as 1639 at the top of the page, the second group 1640-1659, class CR-12f had a similar body but the walkways are raised for a much longer portion beside the hood. The 6 axle units are very similar to the H16/16-44 with the step out rad section but with the different A-1-A trucks. There were 4 groups 1600-1614 class CR-12a, 1615-1617 class CRG-12b, 1618-1620 class CR-12c, and 1622-1629 class CR-12d. Units 1615-1617 were the only ones equipped with steam generators

P.S. the H12-44s also had a longer wheelbase truck that the standard switcher, 8'10" rather than the 8' The same truck found on the RS-10 or RS-18, I think its the light weight version.

Hi, all: I thought I'd post some photos of my H-12-44, one of three I'm planning to build for my Prince Edward Island CNR layout. Note- these are the early CLC H-12-44s... the second series had a wider hood and many other differences including long battery boxes. The CLC H-12-44s were all quite different from those built by F-M. The basic body is from an older Walthers H-10/12-44 that has had major surgery to fit the CLC truck centers, longer distance from the nose to the radiators (there are grab irons from the deck to roof on the engineer's side), battery boxes, big cab rear windows, etc. The units will ride on a scratchbuilt brass frame using drive components from Proto FA-1s and modified Kaslo lightweight MLW road switcher truck sideframes. Still a long way to go, but I'm pretty pleased with the first unit so far. I'm collecting the needed parts to build an H-10-64 as well, as noted in the thread on RSC-13 sideframes (Chris Mears' rapid prototyped sideframes are a great start for the H10-64 sideframes). public.fotki.com/sbhunterca/h-12-44/Steve Hunter
