Hi All, It took me ages to get this one done, getting the CR Stencil decals was the most tricky - you can't just walk in a Shop here and buy them, I don't live in the US! So I had to get them made my self with Freehand (A vector based graphic program) and send the file to a decal print service. this all took time ... but finally I'm happy with the result The inspiration I got from the RS27 units shown on the Conrail Cyclopedia and I decided to make a cross over between 2407 and 2404. I liked the dust on 2407 more and that's actually the # I had, so I wouldn't have to renumber it, but I didn't want it to represent the 5099 two weeks before retirement, and 2404 showed more details on the front - that was the actual reason why it would become a fantasy weathering loco. that's what came out of it: Some more pictures I took some time later outside:

Yeah, it's a good thing it is standing still....I would hate to see it going down the track at 50MPH with those pistons run out ;D

Great job, just one word of advice, you painted the Silver exposed brake cylinder piston in the wrong spot it should be between the cylinder face and the yoke opening. I know I'm nit picking but just a friendly correction for future reference. Thanks a lot! didn't look that much into detail as I should have - future projects will include this improved knowledge

Denis and Matt, Both of your locos look fantastic! Love the good ole' can't-get-any-respect PC, and I remember when nobody would have been caught dead modeling it, but glad to see that has turned around Keep up the good work!

Great looking engine! The RS27's were always my favorite Alco's. I picked up one of the P2K Conrail-PC patch jobs a while back, #2402. Looks like I'm going to need to add some rust and grime if I want it to look realistic .

Those are nice looking engines. The detailing and the paint/weathering really make them stand out.

But I regret meanwhile that I bought it as sound unit! I would be much happier without sound! It came with the QSI sound, and after I experienced real ALCo action in Scranton, PA this year, I don't like the sound of QSI any more.
Whenever I can I add Tsunamis in combination with a bass reflex speaker. If this combination doesn't fit into a loco, I better have it quiet than with a wrong sound like QSI factory built in!

I've never been a fan of QSI, although they are supposed to be getting better. Thats why my GBW RS-27's and undec Broadway RSD-15's are silent, as is my Athearn MILW MP-15AC. For what it's worth, MRC has a worse sound than QSI, and poor operating characteristics as well. When/If I decide to go with sound, Tsunamis, LokSound and possibly Digitrax will be my choices, assuming things don't change..... John But I regret meanwhile that I bought it as sound unit!
