Also a mounted power wheel set w/gear to me is a good idea, Gads I can remember counting and inspecting the teeth for cracks, and even how much involute wear the gear could have ,But cant for the life of me remember the tooth count. John, just a thought, but if you remember the number of teeth on the pinion gear and the gear ratio for a particular model, you can multiply the number of teeth on the pinion gear times the gear ratio and get the number of teeth on the axle gear (if I remember my math correctly...use it or lose it ;D ).

thanks for your input John! i will surely use your advise on the pointers you gave me i plan on at least two shops one a engine shop and the other a combined peeler a/traction motor shop i am really intrigued you are the teacher and i am gladly your student/my building was intentionaly designed with lots of windows so the structure can show you its inner workings.thank you again Terry
