Man Mo, you hit that sucker right outta the ballpark. I have an undec proto that I've been trying to figure out what to do with and, this thing is awe inspiring. Just one quick question. What decals did you use for this?. You are very right about the MLE all weather windows. I picked some up to use on my DT&I sd38 from Athearn. The only thing is, not sure what to use for window glazing. Anxious to see your next build. Frank

Hey Frank all I did with the MLE windows was cut clear styrene (I think its called acetate or something different but it's basically styrene) the shape of the inside of all three sides. It sounds tedious but honestly it worked pretty slick. Also when you glue the glazing in DON"T USE CA!!!! I made that mistake on the first one and had to redo it because the window fogged up! After building six of the stinkin' things I think I got it down to a science. I used Elmers liquid cement applied with a toothpick. dries clear and tacky for a little abuse just in case. O and the decals are from Microscale set number 87-1269. Thanks guys for the compliments! And Jay.....They're MLE

Mo, Thanks for the info. I supposeif had thought to look at Microscale I would have seen that. I've got accetate sooooo, will try cutting some window glazing. Elmers is a great idea. About Texas, its a huge state woth alot of shortlines. Just an awful lot of driving to get to them. Keep up the great work.

The 303 turned out great! You have a good three unit set of DM&IR power to pull around those ore trains. BTW You must have used the DM&IR 316 for a prototype subject on the weathering! Kent Rengo

Hey thanks guys! I appreciate the compliments! Kevin, the fuel tank and trucks was done with powders that were mixed with alcohol. I kind of just blob it on and remove it and blob and remove over and over until I like it.

These units are awesome! I want to model one but I highly doubt that you would ever see one anywhere near the Union Pacific. : / I also wish I could get my hands on one of the original old cast Nathan P5a airhorns that were commonly used on the DM&IR but those are extremely rare do to retirement/replacement and those crazy horn snatchers. ~ Daniel
