OK here go's Idon't know if this has been passed down yet in here but if you are building a locomotive or caboose that needs a firecracker antenna you probably have the material's somewhere around the house it is as simple as a piece of telephone wire!! cut it strip insulation to the bottom of antenna the antenna body is about an 1 8th of an inch or a bit shorter i just cut one that looks right and the wire from the bottom of antenna make a more pliable base than soft metals or plastic i have used both and have broken both!! I have applied this to models for years and haven't broken one yet!!!!! and if ya loose one no biggie! heck just a foot of telephone wire gives you many antennas at least 70 with total length body and stalk!

My dad used copper telephone wire to make handrails for an asphalt paver he worked on not too long ago and they are really close to scale. I think that the wire would be good on a locomotive.
