Looks good to me. Whats the deal with the 'hump' behind the cab to the radiator fans? Was that something Amtrak added during the rebuild? For a larger prime mover perhaps?

Thanks for the comments. The hump in the hood was so the EMD 567 series prime mover would fit. They were repowered using 16 cylender prime movers from retired E units. Being the EMD prime mover was taller than the Alco, the hood had to be raised. Also the short hoods were choped. Also two 36" fans were used. These three units 104, 106 & 107 were the only units rebuilt by Amtrak. When Amtk made a trade with Santa Fe using the SDP40Fs for CF7s, the program was canned.

Thanks so much. What I want to do is send it back to the shop and redo a few things, Like get rid of the stock hand rails and a few other items to improve. But for now I thought I would go ahead and share some photos of it being it's been so long since I have been able to make any post. This was some work from my younger days, I guess about 98 or so is when I built this. Maybe a little more. As I have said before. we are way more critical of our own work! LOL But in this case I know there are room for improvements like newer and thiner hand rails.

That would explain the hump David. Updating the handrails would make a difference but it still looks great the way it is. Definately a unique prototype to model.

One minor detail. The E-units all had a pair of 12-cyl 567's of the same type used in the NW-2 and SW-7/9/1200. John Thanks for the comments. The hump in the hood was so the EMD 567 series prime mover would fit. They were repowered using 16 cylender prime movers from retired E units. Chris, I don't know if you noticed the 53 in the background, it is an ex SP GP. It still had the steam generator in it when I last saw it.
