Can you update us on the status of your experiments with the Frateschi drive components for the GMD-1 ? I am looking at the possibility of retrucking my 2 Custom Brass A-1-A GMD-1 locomotives with these items. From the looks of the wheels in the photos you got a mechanism with the stock "NEM" flanges. Reputably the units the Frateschi US dealer imports have RP25 flanges on them.

Those are great looking engines, I don't think they are any more 'ugly' than a gen set. We're all too brainwashed with the standards designs from EMD and GE, that anything a bit different looks strange to us. (that is, not so much to me, being european, there's a few more (smaller) (off)center cab diesels around here.) Great stuff!

Wow,just recently seen on EB, a custom brass cn zebra go for $500 and a overland cn green & yellow go for $1500. Making kit bashing the super economical way to go.

Hi Group. It been one years since I posted on this project and today, I have some major update ;D The A1A trucks for Frateschi. On previous post, I was trying an way to fit those weird gear tower under the shell and keep the correct height of the unit with not much room between the gear box and the chassis to allow a good moving. The side frame was the right type at the exception of the brakes alignment. I was thinking and thinking and .... how to fit the Kaslo side frame on the Frateschi gearbox. From this situation, I put this project on the side until two weeks Argo. A other member here (Sean) get ride off is GMD-1 kit and when I receive it, I get back on this project, The side frame problem again and CLICK I got an idea. I was looking in my drawer for something else, I found a full drawer of Proto GP side frame. Then thinking to cut out the brakes assembly of the GP's side frame and fit them on the Frateschi side frame. I was a success. From there. Is not a big deal to finish them but still a lot To go. My future roster will be: A1A: 1068 painted black with the end painted red. Was still black paint until 1988 1080 painted NAR with CN patch over. B-B: 1423 painted Zebra (rebuilt) 1905 painted Noodle, red cab On the next photos, you can see the newest trucks received last year with the RP25 profiled wheels vs the Pizza cutter. How the Frasteschi are made and the modification on the brakes guides. Truck fitted to the chassis and the units. Thanks for watching and more to come. Éric

You're going to save yourself alot of money when the Rapido's come out in 2-3 years...you already have your fleet! And they're roadnumber specific! Great job Eric, enjoy the parts I sent....

Nice units, I'm sure you heard of Rapido's announcement. By the way, the first few shots look like the Canada Central layout under the CN/Via viaduct, are you a member there?

Nice units, Im sure you heard of Rapido's annoucement. By the way, the first few shots look like the Canada Central layout under the CN/Via viaduct, are you a member there? No. I wasn't member there, I was a guest by other member and also did some operation session the last few years. It very sad. The last train ran on the layout on January 18 2012 I remember when I ran a train with 125 grains cars and i was seen the complete consist on a straight line. Now. this is all past.
