Afternoon everyone!
One of the odd ball diesel types that I someday would like to model is the SDP45s that were built for the Erie Lackawanna. I believe that a article ran in RMC many years ago but I must have throw that one out during my last house move.
Has anyone attempted to model one of these? Of course IF I were to model one of these locomotives it would have to be painted as WC 6634 one of my personally favorites diesels from my days with the them before the CNoodle took over.
Thanks from Missabe country.

When Rail Power came out with their shells, it made making these real easy. Use a SD45 and the back section of a gp35. I will post a pic for you later of the one I have cut up and ready for details.

Kent, not to step on Stephens foot while he's digging through his stuff, but there was another article written in the Model Railroading magazine in Jan 1998. I took those easy build pics for you, I will have them posted by tomorrow.

Hi Kent, Here's the pics I said I would upload. This is a simple and easy build for these (cheap build). I did them just like this for selling at train shows. I also outlined quickly the cuts you need to make. I used Rail power shells originally. So thats what I'm going to show you. !st cut. 2nd cut GP35 Leave enough material to sand each end flush, check alignment constantly. This is how it should end up. I made the angles out of styrene, filled in the radiator fan of the GP35. Sorry, I took these pics in a hurry. Obviously, this shell is nowhere near finished. It's at the beginning. Lot's of detailing needed. This was an unfinished show project from 97. I have a more elaborate build for one of these now. It is basically Cannonized with a small twist on the back end. I might do that build here sometime this year. Hope that helps and gets you started.
