My fictional MGB&N starts in the late 1870s as a small Great Lakes railroad. It expands rapidly in the 1890s, and eventually grows to about Milwaukee Road size. It had a long drawn out dieselization due to reasons currently unknown, but also had an electrified area in the Rockies. It would eventually come with the Milwaukee road, ICG, CRI&P, and CNW, BN among others to form a large mega-road(let’s just pretend the ICC does not exist) through a merger/buyout blitz in the mid 70s to early 90s. It would eventually go westward and eastward and have some trackage in the northeast, and in the west as well, even acquiring SP around 1989-90. It would also be known for extensive use of secondhand units, often leading to a mash up of paint schemes.
