So the Western Maryland GP40's had a 3,200 Gallon Fuel Tank. Has anyone cut down the Atlas 3,600 Gallon tank to better match the prototype ? If so Pictures

Pretty easy to modify the Atlas tanks. I cut down one for a Southern unit that originally had a 1700 gal tank that was later retrofitted with a 2600 gal tank. The same method applies to make a 3200 gal tank from a 3600.
Using a very fine and sharp razor saw in a mitre box, cut off 2 scale feet from the 3600 gal tank. Use a very square block of some sort to run tank perpendicular to sand paper on a very flat surface,(I use a sheet of glass from a picture frame) to true up surface. Make a new tank end sheet from styrene to match the Atlas tanks end sheet, I use the cut off as a template. If you want to make the slightly larger end sheets per the prototypes add thin sheet to each end cut a bit bigger than the Atlas tank ends.
