Hi, As the snow has started to fall, I decided to start an Athearn BB project(s). It started with a painted CP 9623 which is a correct match for the Athearn kit. I started installing the bottom mount air tanks, cut the Athearn tank side, CA'ed the bottom plate on, fine. 9623 is in a CP class with steerable trucks. Unfortunately, I found out too late that this DW part is now out of production. I put the started fuel tank modification aside and started a second fuel tank to match the CP 9500 series which match the Athearn kit and also have HiAd trucks. I don't find the instructions with this kit very informative/clear. So, when making the bottom mount version of the tanks, where do the four triangular brackets go? I have not seen a diagram/photo of a loco with the safety valve pipe part installed, either on Trianiax or RRPictureArchives. So this part is surplus to requirements? The instructions make it seem that this part is used on post 1995 locos. The top mount version seems a straight forward intall.
Regards, Ian

There are some good pictures on the Details West website of these tanks in use including a CP AC4400. If needed I can dig thru my pictures and I might have some close ups of NS Dash 9 air tanks.
