Cannon treadplate on Kato SD40-2 ?

I'm hoping someone may have tried to use the Cannon tread plate designed for the Athearn SD40-2 on a Kato version. "There's already tread plate on the model" you might say? I am considering relocating the ditch lights to the pilot face from the deck on a mid-production BN unit. The front porch is all that would need to be 'repaired' in this situation, but it might be desirable if not necessary to do the complete model for the sake of aesthetics. I don't know if I'm really driven to do the mod', but I'd like to consider it. Thx for any thoughts.

Because it is such a small portion of the front porch to be "repaired", I would opt for the Archer tread detail and just patch the spots where it is needed.

I think Archer decals has diamond plate decals.
