... but even if it is being released by Athearn or not, I believe there's no such thing as doing it yourself. Chances are yours will be more accurate to the prototype than the generic Athearn (even a Genesis), then it also allows for putting your favorite components in (especially the decoder) and functions (LEDs).
Another interesting project here.

Another interesting project here. Stephane That you are wright. I have a question, what paint do you use on your CP engines? Usually Tremclad "Fire Red" (always gloss) to which I sometimes add a few drops of white depending of the age of the modeled loco. Of course, it's always possible to fade later the surfaces more exposed to the sun. CP1126 slug in my avatar is a good example:
Since I always use oil paint, I usually thin 20% with Varsol for preventing clogging of the airbrush, and better coverage. Over time, I figured out that it's what works best for me (rather than paint lacquer). I used to have an Iwata Eclipse HP series, but I have just ordered a HP-TH Hi-line series. It has two different nozzles, so I can't wait to try it. Then, I usually use Dullcote (Testors) for sealing the decals, but always applied with the airbrush. Directly from the spray can is usually dangerous for ruining the paint, as a thicker layer of dullcote will cause wrinkles in the finish.
And I don't use primer. I apply directly on the brass, but it has to be aged (tarnished) first, so to prevent paint chipping.

Another exciting project!
I have a few of my own that I will roll, despite availability of same. So keep at it, and have more fun than the guy opening a box!

Opening door on the cab? Niice! It doesn't open, but it does seem like it sticks out a bit much. I might sand it down a little more.

Great looking build so far. the details on the trucks are immaculate, and most certainly better than Athearn!
Looking forward to more!

I made the grills see trough by grinding away at the plastic on the inside. Cool idea. Never thought of that.

Excellent progress! There's something really satisfying about the fuel tank! The details present are substantial compared to molded on details! Love it!
