So I may be a bit ambitious, but if you have the tools, why not use them. I have never liked the chunky, flat face wheelsets on most N scale locomotives. I'm currently experimenting with machining replacement wheels. After a couple failed attempts, I'm starting to like the progress. The challenge is planning out the work flow. Has anyone else been foolish enough to attempt this?

I am interested, is this just for appearance sake, or does it help with performance? I have done HO scale wheel sets to change the profile of the tread and flange, but it did not work out so good (for me, anyway!).
