A little musing here. I threw together a test for a Great Northern Heritage unit. Not sure If I'll stick to a classic one or sort of modernize it like Athearn did. There's really not much difference between the two. Classic One Modern Version - the Anti-glare on the nose sort of messes with the flow of the orange stripe in the nose though. See not much difference but still a subtle change. I also received my first Interchange car for the CBRT from the Chinook Lines. Joe had a run of cars and I threw in on one. The Chinook Lines was one of the inspirations for mine, and my closest competing railroad. His basically follows the Milwaukee Road route.

The modern version would be my choice. BTW, when are your interchange cars going to be available?

Thanks for the reply- the modern version was a last minute test and it's growing on me too! I originally was going a full Hustle Muscle recreation but this is a more generic but encompassing iteration.
I dont have any of my own setup to run yet Going to have to get a fee cars and shells and test my paint colors and then get some decals made up. So we shall see! A couple of guys on the freelance group have had cars run but the Chinook one was the first I threw in on only becuase its a 'competing' railroad at least in the freelance groups map

Crud! I just realized the classic one doesn't have the full text. I had a Hustle Muscle on it. I'll have to fix that!
*** Thusly update the previous post with the right image

Apparently my post from last night didn't actually post. but this time I have pictures so win win lol. Going through and thinking of my backstory and the GN heritage Unit led me to do some re-thinking. Actually that coupled with seeing a Train Simulator image, and an Athearn model along side their GN locomotive led to realize something : I have some untapped resources to take advantage of. So I present to you an addition to the CBRT network with a backstory and locomotive in development. I'm more than halfway done but this is a work in progress. This is the old Spokane, Portland, and Seattle Route - ironically really easy to follow. Its partially the Current Columbia River Plateau Trail, and the BNSF Fallbridge Subdivision. I have Essentially from Spokane to Wishram done. Right outside of Spokane was really Interesting the UP, NP, SP&S, and MILW all had either their own or shared tracks that paralleled each other for a while. There are some really Neat trestles along the Columbia River Plateau - in Washtucna and Burr Canyon specifically. This Brings me to the Current CBRT Network as it stands as of 03/06/21. The main line from Sand Point, ID to Everett, WA with the Portland Branch diverging in Spokane. The Hedley Branch goes north to Hope, BC and the Olympic Branch out to Port Angeles.

Hopefully ill be able to post an update tonight, I've been busy in google earth. The SP&S was a wealth of trackage and most still in use and some good lore as far as shared trackage rights etc. Now comes the arduous task of thinning it out to the tracks I want to use.....lol... arduous.... lol

Got some images together. This is all just Raw Information and not a set plan for what lines will be used. The SP&S was a joint Venture between the GN and the NP to connect their lines. The SP&S competed heavily with the UP for the line and maintained shared trackage rights - some really interesting lore/history here, and actually how the Oregon Trunk line got its name. That was the name that the line was operated under and if memory serves me right was a joint SP&S and GN line. All Lines so far (new and old) Just the SP&S Lines The Great Northern Actually continued beyond the SP&S and down to Bieber, CA and to the Keddie Wye with GN and WP sharing the line between Bieber and Keddie. The GN also intertwined with the SP in numerous spots here too. The Orange is the City of Prineville Railway, and the Blue is the OC&E. Its fascinating how much of these lines are still left in use, or evidence of the line being there. and some didn't exist past 1900 lol. if you didnt know Historic Aerials is a god send in this department with a collection of Topographic, aerial, and atlas maps of the areas.

I also was experimenting with a design too. This would be the third heritage unit. After the GN, and SNC we have the SP&S (tentative)

countryroads Thank you! The render is linked to in one of the first few posts of mine on page one of this thread. However you raise a good point. To make it easier I'll see if i cant post all 4 of the current schemes in one post on here.

Got them all together. I present the Current Roster of Heritage and/or Special Units for the CBRT circa 03/21/21 * the SNC unit was designed by Don Gaiser and used with permission.

Thank you! Now to save up for some Engines hahaha Well first actually I need to learn to airbrush, get some paint, some decals, and bust out some real scale mockups to really tweak things. I do think the SP&S could use some tweaking like a bigger font and lettering in the midsection but that's just thinking out loud lol

Afternoon everyone! Hope this find you well! This is going to be a little random - not sure if anyone does any Train sims (my GPU is too old at the moment for anything beyond MSTS rofl! but I came across an image posted on Deviant art (user is UP5330) and haven't seen them anywhere else so I don't know if they are his, from in game, or a third party asset. I haven't heard back from him yet - but already started mocking em up ;-P They are called CTX so I adapted it to the Cascade Traction Company - figured it could be a good addition to my world. Since CTX is the only pictured name I'll have to think of reporting marks but CTRX, CATX, or CTCX might work still very much fleshing this out. The original photo by UP5330 My Version - Its a pretty Striking scheme - and the white stripe has been tricky to mock up so this is close but still nees work, but I like it so far well CTCX is CIT Corp and CTRX is C&T Refinery so drats lol and that looks to be Cargill equipment

I was messing around with an Alco PA drawing as that is what I envision my OCS fleet to be pulled by in addition to an F40PH as needed. But really the F40 was just a quick way to flesh out the corporate scheme. Moving forward with the Alco PA I applied the same scheme but where the white would be on the F40 was where all the vents were on the PA and it just didn't fit. I went back looking at it and settled on extended the black down, and you know what, it sort of works. I've attached an ABA set to test it out on so we shall see how it sits. Also that made me rethink about lowering the black on the Passenger cars too. As you'll see the Full dome looks a little off now, so its still very much a work in progress. This scheme is not as fancy as I originally thought it was, but its formal in a way and I think works

Hope Everyone has been healthy and well! Just stopping by for a bit, I'm still hashing out and working on the CBRT just started a new job and lets say Travel has been plenty. Training is a full year and its like drinking water from a fire hose. I think I've driven 14k miles since august and worked in 5 states lol. But its been a job.. no career.. I've always wanted to do and been applying for it since 2017! and most likely will be moving come August, just depends on where I get placed.
This year I hope to have some real cars fleshed out. I have many many projects on the backburner lol but to start with I have a Walthers Trinity Reefer, Tangent Wide Vision Caboose, and will be looking for a couple of ACF Grain cars and plan on trying a couple of schemes. Just gotta get my logos and data into vector artwork and well go for there. I probably will do the grain cars first
The Most recent thing I've been musing on (Since I haven't nailed down the full history of the CBRT yet) is whether I want to have the MRL still around as if BNSF never happened in my verse, or to keep BNSF as it is in Modern times, and just have acquired equipment from MRL.

Glad you're still around and plotting your road
I've changed from western class 1 to an Eastern class 1
I'm going high hoods. Loosely based off the Southern and NW
Can't wait to see first real power painted up
