I think the color logo on the nose, instead of the cab side, would look especially nice.

Liking this
I'm partial to engine C.
As for the cars you could use all or some of the schemes to indicate changes over the years
Also that all color herald would more than likely be used on the executive equipment & power.
Less so on the freight cars.
But 1 exception would be your local and shoving platform cabeese could get the executive herald.
Just my 2 cent's worth
As I'm thinking of going high hood possibly.

Not a lot to report on progress, just consolodating the ever growing task of a full company paint scheme. I've dabbled in some different designs lately. Working on some AlCO PA's for an OCS setup, and some F40PH designs as well.

Hope Everyone has been healthy and well! I haven't had much time to work on things - been working way too much and some truck issues have compounded things but I digress. I have been tweaking and updating the final schemes. Been working on some Passenger cars for the OCS, consolidating the brand (like colors and fonts and a running list of passenger car names etc). I've been working on some Freight car scheme's and making some drawings that didn't exist to further work on the brand. i.e a scale Ford Pick-up for a MoW Design etc. So kept busy and done things here and there keeping active. I really want to get some rolling stock and locomotives painted up to actually see how the digital translates to the physical.

Through together a little work in progress shot of the different departments. None of these schemes are final AT ALL. Especially the MoW one, that was more so testing out the drawing with color rofl! and messing around with the text at the bottom using Hank Stephens layouts as an inspiration.

Thank you! I'm not sold on the freight car look yet, but it's the current one so far. MoW im toying with either Orange or Safety Green.
Ironically the OCS scheme inspiration came from a local trucking company. I saw it and then it clicked and I REALLY like the way it looks just can't decide between bare silver or white for the main color of the passenger cars.

It's been a while since I checked in, I'm LOVING the GN-esque scheme you have settled on for the freight engines. It is simple, yet elegant, which is exactly what a modern day railroad goes for. IMHO some of your earlier ideas were much to complicated and in the 'real world', that means expensive! I'm also really liked the freight car scheme with the simple white roundel, although your latest blue and black version is quite nice. One suggestion I would make to that scheme would be to have the dividing line between colors be at the sill. As in blue above the sill, and black below it. Maybe with black ends as well, just how it always was on the classic PTLX hoppers.

White would need to be kept clean all the time had a white car just don't ask how I know how blue windshield washer stained the white.

Good Evening, Thank you cemr5396 ! Yes some of the other iterations were just gaudy lol! Good point! In what I'm posting tonight, I tried that change and liked the look so a darn good suggestion! I'm thinking there will be a few different versions of freight cars so the White relief could make good use for patch work too! The main inspiration for that initial dry run of the split scheme was the New Potlatch Thrall All door Car from Walther's. lol VERY good points there. I had some washer fluid get crusted on my Silver paint too. didn't stain, but was a bear to break free. Now on to the main portion of this post. I ran into a problem. When I posted my 'family tree' it was really beneficial to see the drawings in one place. But also raised the question of cohesion. The Dark blue of the OCS was so different to the GN Big Sky Blue. and this was a by product of the Big Sky Blue not looking good on OCS cars. Now the first thing I did was added a black roof to the OCS equipment and that tied it back into the Big Sky Blue Passenger cars of the GN. But it still raised the question - Big Sky Blue or the Darker Blue? The Darker blue just pops better but the Big Sky Blue is a pure nod to what the GN was. So aside from the next step of getting some shells and slapping some paint on to really get a feel for the colors. Until then I've attached two different photos of cohesive schemes. One will be all Big Sky Blue and one will be all Dark Blue. (don't worry about the Mow Trucks - I haven't Settled on Safety Green or Orange lol I'm curious to see which scheme looks the best. The Black definitely helped the Big Sky Blue but that Dark blue though... lol You can see how on the fence I am myself. Big Sky Blue Enjoy! The Cohesion of the Scheme - in either color is just so right!

They both look very good but remember BSB faded pretty bad after several years
White truck supervisor
Orange or yellow B&B/MoW

You have a great concept and your paint scheme would fit in well with modern times. What scale are you modelling and do you have anything painted for the Carbon River?

countryroads Good points as ever. Ill have to try and find some Faded BSB. I wonder how the dark blue would fare then? Hadn't thought about making the supervisor a different color, that will be interesting to test out. Canadian Atlantic Railway Thank you! I had hoped to create that effect scale wise.. well the goal was HO, but I don't have any space for that at the moment so N scale will win the layout space for the time being ( I only have 18x27 inches - so aside from a static HO display N scale it is) However, I don't think I'm going to do the CBRT in N scale. So I might just have to work on that static display and some equipment here or there. No I don't any current stock painted up just these plans. I am looking for some Shells to practice on and will get getting power when I can. I think the first plan would be to finalize the logos and get some decals printed for when I get the Shells. I do have an Athearn CF7 that I can toy with so that might be the first after I find some knock off shells to tweak the paint and such.

I'm using L&N dark blue for my roads colors with a grey roof like UP
Just an FYI.
Hard hats and supervisors trucks usually were white
Crew could be from blue to yellow to orange to green or anywhere in-between
Lol have fun

Modern paint and fade protection... okay thats one thing but definitely gonna have to fade some older units or just for weathering fun so still going to have to see about that Faded BSB haha!
Good tips on the hard hats too and bet your locomotives are gonna look good too!
